CLNA Integrations

Created:

Integrating K12 Career & Technical Education (CTE) and college Prof/Tech programs through the CLNA process opens the door to stronger student pathways and more responsive workforce preparation. This work is about more than just alignment; it builds intentional connections that make transitions easier, resources more accessible, and results more relevant to both education and industry.

The overlapping space between K12 CTE and college Prof/Tech is fertile ground for partnerships to take shape. For example:

  • Advisory committees bring together insights from educators and employers to keep programs current.

  • CTE dual credit initiatives give students a valuable head start on college-level coursework.

  • Shared professional development and pathway discovery allow teachers and faculty to learn from one another and strengthen guidance for learners.

When CLNA are effectively integrated, instructional design and resources can be developed together, ensuring that what students learn in one setting prepares them well for the next step. Shared learning outcomes, joint employer engagement, and consistent assessments can help solidify pathways from high school into college and onward into rewarding employment. This coordinated approach also ensures that credentials and certifications are meaningful and supported by the needs of the regional economy.

By focusing on collaboration, K12 and college teams can create seamless experiences that benefit every learner, regardless of where they start. Integration moves beyond surface-level coordination, leveraging the strengths found at the intersection to build better pathways, remove unnecessary barriers, and drive lasting improvement.

This integrated model would benefit students, educators, and regional employers, ensuring that every step along the journey is intentionally connected and purposefully prepares students for success in living wage careers.
